18th St Pilsen Open Studios

Over 60 artists will be showing their work throughout the Pilsen neighborhood in Chicago from 12 to 8 pm today and tomorrow Sunday. 30 studios and galleries will be open between Western Ave and May St and between 16th and 26th streets.

I've gone the last few years and have really enjoyed checking out work in some unusual spaces. Pilsen has got a lot of interesting old buildings with hidden theaters and loft spaces. Also, not to knock the spaces on the east side of Pilsen but it's nice to see what the artists in the rest of Pilsen are up to. The National Museum of Mexican Art is in the middle of this neighborhood so you can check out their current Day of the Dead show as well.

List of participating artists here. And a map of spaces as well as the two free trolley routes here.
